Typically, the system consists of an engine generator and an Automatic Transfer Switch(ATS) that transfers the load from utility to the generator. Built-in control logic monitors the normal power supply and senses any interruptions. As, the utility power fails, the ATS automatically starts the engine and transfers the load after the generator reaches proper voltage and frequency. And this happens in a matter of seconds. When the utility power is restored, the ATS will automatically switch the load back to normal supply and shut down the engine.
